
Committees of the Greene County Historical Society of Alabama
The society conducts its business through the functioning of five standing committees and specially appointed committees to oversee specific projects. Unlike standing Committees, Special Committees exist for the duration of a project. Committees for the 2023 year include:
Publicity and Communications Committee
The Publicity and Communications Committee is responsible for creating and maintaining the Society's website, social media postings, newsletters, event brochures, and newspaper articles. The Committee is made up of the following members:

Pilgrimage Committee
The Pilgrimage Committee is responsible for organizing the Annual Tour of Historic Places. The committee serves as the liaison with owners of properties on the tour and coordinates volutneers. The Committee oversees sales of tickets for the tour and for food plates, and arranges for the sale of society memorabilia, books, and products during the tour. The Committee is made up of the following members:

Finance Committee
The Finance Committee assists the Treasurer and serves as a recommending body for an annual operating budget. The Committee is responsible to explore and pursue various revenue streams that will provide the funds to support of the Society's mission including but not limited to endowments; investments; fundraising events; membership dues; facility rentals; memorabilia and book sales; and grants from charities, foundations, state, and federal entities. The Committee is made up of the following members:

Program Committee
The Program Committee arranges for and coordinates the Society's Speakers Series, and events of interest to the Society's membership, including the Annual Chilli Supper and Spring Banquet. Duties include coordinating food and drinks, setting up of facilities in advance of, and cleaning up after events. The Committee is made up of the following members:

Preservation Committee
The Preservation Committee is a special committee appointed to oversee a preservation efforts. The scope of the committee's oversight includes installation of new and review of the condition of existing historical markers throughout the county; cemetery preservation efforts; preservation projects for buildings and the historic district; and preservation of historical documents. This Special Committee is made up of the following individuals:

Nominating Committee
The Nominating Committee is a special committee appointed to recommend nominees for officer positions and to committee appointments. Nominations are ratified by the membership. The Committee is currently made up of the following members:
